The Marie Curie Hospice provides inpatient care, day therapies and specialist support services in patients’ own homes for people with any life-limiting illness, and the people important to them.
The Hospice has 20 inpatient beds in both single and shared rooms. Patients are admitted to the Hospice for symptom management or end-of-life care.
There are two teams of Marie Curie clinical nurse specialists, based in Edinburgh and in the Macmillan Centre at St John’s Hospital. They work with the patient’s GP, district nurses and other healthcare professionals to support the patient at home.
Patients can attend one or several day therapy sessions. The Marie Curie Hospice provides a range of therapeutic, creative, social and supportive sessions to choose from to help with rehabilitation and independence.
The Marie Curie Hospice also provides specialist palliative medicine advice, support and education for external healthcare professionals.
Bereavement support services are also available for the families and friends of people who have died whilst receiving care from Marie Curie.
